The Portal Trust provides grants to support projects that create educational opportunities for children and young people under the age of 25 in London. They are particularly interested in supporting those from disadvantaged backgrounds.
The Portal Trust fund work across 14 inner London boroughs within the following themes:
- Missing Out: Supporting young people at risk of disengaging from education.
- Next Steps: Opening pathways to vocational education, training, and employment.
- Scholarships & Bursaries: Helping education providers offer life-changing opportunities.
- New Ideas: Backing innovative approaches that influence policy and practice.
- Stepping Up: Helping young people build confidence, resilience, and social responsibility.
- Portal Network: Fostering excellence and opportunity in our own educational family.
The Trust regularly consider applications that cost between £5,000 and £100,000. They welcome projects and organisations both big and small to apply.
Please note: They do not normally fund general fundraising appeals, work that replaces statutory funding, retrospective costs, or capital projects where that is the sole focus.
How to Apply
The Trust has a simple two-stage application process which should be completed online via their website. You can complete the Eligibility Quiz to find out if your project or organisation is the right fit.
