The Trusthouse Charitable Foundation changed it’s name to The Forte Charitable Foundation in 2025.
The Forte Charitable Foundation makes grants totalling around £2 million a year to both charities and charitable organisations.
What they fund:
UK based small to medium sized local organisations with a demonstrable track record of success working to address local issues in communities of extreme urban deprivation and deprived rural districts
Urban deprivation
Funding for projects based in areas of extreme urban deprivation. Your postcode must be ranked within the most deprived 15% of the Index of Multiple Deprivation.
They want to fund work which is clearly related to addressing the local challenges of local geographic communities
Rural Deprivation
Your postcode must be within the most deprived 50% of the Index of Multiple Deprivation. ‘Rural’ is classed as areas with less than 10,000 inhabitants in your village/town.
Your community must be based in a remote, rural, economically-deprived area where there are few local facilities. Transport may be an issue, incomes are low and there are limited opportunities for fundraising.
Grants will be awarded for revenue costs including core costs, salaries, running and project costs.
Eligible organisations include registered charities, social enterprises, and voluntary groups. They do not fund CICs, Schools, or new organisations without a set of annual accounts.
The Foundation has two grant sizes:
- Small Grants – up to £10,000 for organisations with an annual income up to £250,000.
- Major Grants – between £10,000 and £50,000, for organisations with an annual income up to £500,000.
They do not fund organisations with an annual income over £500,000.
Your project must support a community that sits within the IMD deprivation limits set out in the trusts funding guidelines. You can find out which grants you are eligible for in their guidelines, which can be found here.
Trusthouse offers further information on the types of projects they consider, along with a comprehensive FAQ’s, which can be found here.
