The Ernest Cook Trust is a land-based educational charity, one of the UK’s foremost providers and funders of Outdoor Learning.
The Ernest Cook Trust shares its love and understanding of the countryside with underserved children and young people, their families and communities, forging lasting connections to nature.
The Trust has a range of resources, partnership opportunities and grant funding programmes that promote ‘land-based learning’.
Available Grants:
- Outdoor Learning Leader Grant (formerly known as the Outdoor Learning Officer Grant)
Grants are available in 3 regional areas – Cumbria/Lancashire, Gloucestershire, and Leicestershire. Grants support registered charities and non-profit organisations who want to employ an ‘Outdoor Learning Leader’ with grants up to £20,000 per Outdoor Learning Leader, per year, for up to three years to be used towards salary and on-costs (with some unrestricted funding included). Schools are not eligible for this grant. - Outdoor Essentials Grant
Available to UK state-funded schools to remove barriers and enable pupils to connect to nature and learn outdoors. Grants of £500 is offered to primary and special schools, and a double award of 2 x £500 (£1,000) to secondary schools. Funding can be used towards: School grounds improvements, Transport costs to Outdoor Learning venues, Outdoor clothing, and Training in Outdoor Learning.
- Communities Grant
Grants of £500 to charities and non-profit organisations in Gloucestershire, Swindon, and Bristol who encourage young people aged from 11-19 years (or up to 25 years old for Special Educational Needs & Disabilities) from underserved communities to enjoy the outdoors and connect with nature. Schools are not eligible for this grant.
