About the Trainer

Andrew Ellison has 7+ years’ experience in the voluntary sector, principally working in fundraising.

He has worked for charities of all sizes supporting a range of causes from tackling homelessness, mental health, medical research to supporting young people, international development work and sports-based projects.

Having previously worked as a sole fundraiser for 3 years at a homeless charity based in London, generating, he managed all their income streams to deliver hugely successful results and grow the charity’s income and sustainability. In that time, he also obtained a Fundraising Qualification from the Chartered Institute of Fundraising (CiOF).

He has a wide range of experience of securing a diverse range of grants (i.e. National Lottery, Esmee Fairburn, Children in Need) to support charitable organisations to deliver their vital work.

Andrew is passionate about the voluntary sector and has volunteered at a number of charities – Foundation Against Cancer, St Mungo’s, ScotsCare, Projects Abroad. He is also a career mentor at his previous university (Heriot-Watt University) supporting students to develop their confidence, employability, skills and knowledge to boost their prospects upon graduating.

He is a Bid Writer with Get Grants supporting a wide range of organisations to boost their fundraising income, is leading Get Grants Training development and also delivers our Fundraising for Beginners course.

Aside from his fundraising career, Andrew is a keen traveller and loves exploring new parts of the world and experiencing new cultures. He is also a keen sports fan, in particular football and tennis, and (sadly for him) he is a passionate Everton fan.
