Fidelio provides grants in support of the Arts particularly for Music, including Opera, Lieder, Composition and Dance. The trust supports individuals and groups who would not be able to carry out a project or activity without financial support, particularly those who are at an early stage in their careers.
Fidelio aims to provide support for individuals (over the age of 21) or groups of exceptional ability, to enable them for example:
- To receive special tuition or coaching (e.g. in the case of musicians to attend Master Classes)
- To participate in external competitions
- To be supported for a specially arranged performance
- To receive support for a musical composition
Applications need to be supported by Institutions, Colleges, Arts Festivals or other similar arts organisations in the United Kingdom with recognised relevant expertise. Applications from individuals or groups seeking funding for themselves without such support will not be considered. The person representing the recommending institution or organisation must vouch for the competence and skill of those for whom they are applying and state how they were selected. They should explain their professional relationship with the individual or group, and describe accurately the project or activity for which money is required and by when.
Applications are not generally considered for activities for people under the age of 21, or for course fees, capital items or retrospective expenditure.
Grants awarded vary in size but tend to be limited to a maximum of £5,000 and are usually offered to projects no longer than 12 months in length.
Applications are accepted three times a year and are publised on the trusts website
The application form is also downloadable via the website, with applicants able to also submit a single side of A4 of supporting information. Detailed guidelines of what needs to be included in the application are also listed on the website.
