The John Ellerman Foundation aims to improve people’s lives and wellbeing, enhance society and support the natural world through the provision of grants.
They offer grants within three distinct programmes:
- Arts – supporting high quality arts provisions that bring about improved lives
- Environment – creating greater harmony between people and the environment
- Social Action- tackling disadvantage, divisions and inequality
The Foundation only offer grants to registered charities with a turnover of between £100,000 and £10 million, with charities needing to work in more than a single location and ideally having national impact. Their website provides good details on the types of organisation the Foundation prefers to support.
Grants given vary widely in size, with some six-figure amounts given to applicants as well as much small amounts. Grants can be over a 1-3 year period.
Applications are made through a two-stage process, with the first stage consisting of providing information within two sides of A4. Further details of what to provide within a request are found on their website.
