The People’s Postcode Lottery has recently launched the Postcode Community Trust; a new £1.4 million charity that has been created to support local, community-based, grassroots projects across Great Britain at a time when there is overwhelming demand for funding.
The Trust is keen to support projects that are for the advancement of community development, which seeks to empower individuals and groups of people by providing them with the skills they need to effect change in their own communities. This involves creating opportunities for the community to learn new skills and, by enabling people to act together, helps further social inclusion and equality.
Registered charities and organisations can apply for funding ranging from £500 to £20,000 however, organisations not registered as a charity can only apply for up to £2,000 and must evidence that they are constituted.
The application is an online form, which can be found on their website but is only available when the rounds are open. There are detailed guidelines to help you with your application and further information is also available from www.postcodecommunitytrust.org.uk.
As of 2021, The People’s Postcode Lottery is also now funding small charities and organisations in Wales.
