The One Stop – Carriers for Causes Fund offers grants of up to £1,000 to support projects that benefit local communities through the 5p charge for plastic carrier bags. To be eligible, your organisation must be based within 2 miles of a participating One Stop convenience store, of which there are hundreds located throughout England, Wales and Scotland.

All types of non-profit organisation are eligible to apply, including registered charities, voluntary/community groups, schools, social enterprises and Community Interest Companies. You must

• Community events;
• Sports, medical, arts & crafts and kitchen equipment;
• Improvements to community buildings such as schools, hospices, community centres etc;
• Environmental projects including litter picking and improving disabled access to nature.

The above list is not exhaustive, the types of project that will be considered is extremely broad. There is a handy interactive map that will show you whether funding is currently available in your local area.

Applications can be submitted at any time via the website, and applicants will generally be notified of the outcome within 5 months of applying.
