The People’s Health Trust is a relatively new major grant giving trust that offers grants from £5.000 to £50,000 over a two year period. The programme opens to different areas of the country at different times.
Funded through income from the Health Lottery, the Trust’s philosophy is that they want to see a society without health inequalities. Within the Active Communities Programme they want to do this by funding ideas which are small and local and are genuinely designed and led by local people and like to fund neighbourhoods which are the greatest to be affected by health inequalities.
In order to be eligible for Active Communities funding, your organisation must be:
- Not for profit
- Your income is less than £350,000 a year, or on average less than £350,000 over 2 years
- You have less than 6 months annual running costs in savings after you have deducted the grant you receive
- Your organisation is constituted and more than 3 months old.
The programme has a two stage application process, with a short initial application and in depth second stage application. The Trust opens for applications from different ‘society’ areas at different times, with applications open for a six week period. Decisions are made around 12 weeks after the closing date.
