The Wolfson Foundation provides grants of £15k – £100k to UK state-funded secondary schools and sixth form colleges towards the cost of new buildings, refurbishments and technical equipment.
Your project must aim to improve the provision for education in subjects that require specialist spaces or technical equipment. This could include laboratories or technical equipment that will improve the teaching of:
- Science
- Design & Technology
- Art
- Languages
- Performing Arts.
There is an expectation that your project will increase the number of students taking these subjects at GCSE and/or A Level. The learning outcomes for students taking these subjects should be improved as a result of your project.
If you are applying on behalf of a SEND school, refer to our article on The Wolfson’s Foundation funding for special needs schools and colleges.
The purchase of land or existing buildings (including a building’s freehold) are ineligible expenses for this fund. Schools that are members of a Multi-Academy Trust (MAT) must submit their application through their MAT.
Applications are in two stages and should be submitted via the online portal. Application deadlines occur twice per year and are listed on the website.
