As we regularly search for great funding opportunities to improve your schools and communities, we came across this grant programme from the John Lyon’s Charity. The charity provides support to 9 Boroughs in northwest London: Barnet, Brent, Camden, Ealing, Hammersmith & Fulham, Harrow, Kensington & Chelsea and the Cities of London and Westminster. Their main aim is to promote the life-chances of children and young people through education and fund registered charities, state schools and organisations with automatic charitable status (such as churches).
The charity has a range of areas that it funds, with the main ones being:
- Children and Families
- Education and Learning
- Training
- Arts in Education
- Youth Clubs/Activities and Youth Issues
- Special Needs and Disability
- Sport
Each area has its own list of what the charity will fund, but these are fairly simple and quite general so no doubt you will have a project in mind to match one of these areas, which can all be found on the charity’s website. The small grants programme awards up to £5,000 and applications are considered six times a year with no set deadline. In order to apply, you must first send an Initial Proposal Letter and if that is assessed positively, you will be sent an application form to fill in.
Alternatively, if you apply for less than £2,000 all you need to do is submit the Initial Proposal Letter and a member of the Grants Team will notify you if you have been successful.
